I am Rakesh Kaul, a self taught artist based in Gurgaon, India. I have been painting in oil, watercolour and acrylics. Of late, I use more of acrylic medium.
I have spent my childhood years in the valley of Kashmir, which is full of greenery and surrounded by hills, mountains and lakes. I have always been fascinated and inspired by the heavenly natural beauty of my homeland and lots of scenic beauty around. A lot of that natural beauty has always found a place on my canvases, where I try to transfer the impressions of scenic beauty in the form of landscapes paintings.
Over the years, I have also been fascinated by the work by old masters, which is reflected through the detailing & intricacies in my work.
Having spent good number of years in the corporate world at leadership positions in a multinational environment, I have traveled around the world extensively, which has given me a perspective of lives around these countries in different continents, including a good grasp of natural scenic beauty of lakes, mountains, sea beaches, trees & gardens, etc. Hence, the reason for painting more of landscapes, seascapes and lives around the same.
Beauty, serenity, rejuvenation and calmness are what I try my audience to experience through my paintings.
